30 Days of Prayer

After going through my Bible study on Prayer or on Praying for others , I recommend putting these thoughts into practice by spending 30 days praying for others. Modeled after the concepts in the verses in the bible study on praying for others, each day you pray for yourself or someone for help in a specific area.  Print out the following chart to spend each day praying for a specific person and for a particular biblical purpose.

A Bible Study on Prayer

Why aren't my prayers being answered? What is the proper way to pray? What is the purpose of prayer? How should we pray? What should I pray for? Do you have questions about prayer? See what the Bible has to say about prayer. Print out the Prayer Bible Study . Then, read through the Bible verses that are listed and take notes on the different topics. Make connections between the verses and see what points about prayer are repeated throughout Scripture. After completing this Bible study, you can look deeper into praying for others with this Bible study or take time to practice what you learned with my 30 Days of Prayer printable .

Praying For Others Bible Study

Often, when I pray I feel like I don't know what to pray for. I believe in the importance of the eternal, but my requests are often focused on the temporal (healing for the sick, provision for those with financial needs, safety for those in dangerous situations...). There is nothing wrong with praying for these things, but my desire is to pray in ways that can affect eternity so  I decided to look into the types of prayers that were encouraged in the New Testament as well as the examples of prayers and prayer requests that were included in the epistles.  Below are two printables. The first printable is a list of all of the verses that I found for you to study on your own. I encourage you to circle the verb that refers to prayer (pray, ask, thank...) and then to underline what is being requested (or for what God is being thanked). Bible Reading Chart

Hopefully, you have a plan to read the Bible as we start this upcoming year. I have used many different reading plans. The Bible in a year (both Genesis to Revelation and chronologically), with a little of Psalms and Proverbs each day (or not), a "harmony" of the Gospels, just one book, and topical plans. I have several other shorter reading plans you could use as well.  This year, we decided to encourage my 12-year-old son to read through the Bible and that my husband and I would read with him. We thought that it would be too much pressure to read it through in one year, so we settled on reading one chapter a day.  I made this Bible Reading Chart so we could keep track of what chapters we have read. All you have to do is put an x over the number of each chapter as you read it. That way you can read at your own pace. You don't even have to do them in order. So, print this out here  and start your 2021 with a resolution to read God's Word.

Bible Verses for What A Beautiful Name

While I initially resisted this song due to its repetitive chorus (basically epitomizing the 7-11 stereotype of modern Christian worship), it won me over.  First of all, the verses are powerful, filled with references to God's Word.  Second, the choruses are true.  The name of our Lord is beautiful, wonderful, and powerful.  Finally, the psalms are filled with songs that are very repetitive.  (I wonder what critics of modern worship think of Psalm 136 and all those "For His love endures forevers?")
