Holy Week themed Easter Egg Bible Scavenger Hunt

Image
If you have followed me for a few years, you know that I have made several Bible scavenger hunts using Bible verses as clues to lead my kids around our house to a prize. On Easter morning, I put the clues in plastic Easter eggs and use them to lead my kids to their Easter baskets. They look forward to this tradition every year. This year I created Holy Week resources to teach them the events of each day of the week leading up to Easter. It includes a flap book, a cross foldable, cards, bingo, Bible reading plans, and timelines. So I wanted to tie this year's scavenger hunt in with the Holy Week theme. I picked a verse from each day of Holy Week and used it as a clue. I am excited to see them find the eggs (and their Easter baskets at the end). I also created an alternate version to be used in a church so that people who are using my Holy Week resources in their church can play too. The home version has the following clues: coats, chairs, fruit, table, towel, water, spices, and S...

Faith Bible Study

Image
Faith, a foundational aspect of the Christian walk, serves as the bedrock upon which our relationship with God and Jesus is built. It is the unwavering trust in the promises of the Almighty, the assurance of things hoped for, and the conviction of things unseen (Hebrews 11:1-2). In a world fraught with trials and uncertainties, nurturing and strengthening our faith in God becomes not only a pursuit but a lifeline, leading us closer to a stronger relationship with God and the eternal treasures of heaven. To aid in this endeavor, use this downloadable Bible study focused on unraveling the truths and treasures of faith through God's Word. In this downloadable Bible study , we study the topic of faith rooted in the timeless truths of Scripture and illuminated by the word of God. Easter Basket Scavenger Hunt 3

Image
If your children enjoyed my previous Easter basket scavenger hunt, here is our latest version. Two years ago, we used Bible verses about the story of Jesus' death on the cross. Last year, we used Bible verses about the story of Jesus' resurrection. This year, I use ideas from the story of Jesus' resurrection without actually using Bible verses. Now, let's celebrate the joyous occasion of His resurrection with a new set of clues.  Here's how to get started:  Download and print this PDF.   Cut out each clue.  Place the first clue in an egg, ready to be handed to your eager little hunters. Alternatively, you can leave it on the bottom step for a fun surprise as they come downstairs. Place the second clue inside an egg and hide it at the location written on the bottom of the second clue (a hamper). Continue the hunt by placing each subsequent clue inside eggs and hiding them at the location indicated in the bottom right corner of the clue. Finally, hide your chil...

Books of the Bible Memory Aids

Image
I was teaching my own kids the Books of the Bible but saw a need for some resources. There are some decent flashcards, but I was looking for something that coordinated colors and symbols across flashcards, signs, and other processing activities. As a Sunday School teacher and parent, I recognized the need for engaging resources to teach the Books of the Bible to children and teens. In response, I created a set of coordinated flashcards, signs, and worksheets.   Flashcards The great things about flashcards are all of the ways that you can use them. Obviously, they can put the cards in order, but that is just the start. One thing that teachers do to help students is to "chunk" information into smaller groups so that students only have to process that smaller amount of information. So you can pull out only one section of the Bible. For example, pull out the OT History books) which is easy since the cards are color-coded by section so all the OT History cards are turquoise. Then,...

Ten Commandments Children's Bible Lesson

Image
Do you need a fun way to teach children the story of God giving Moses the Ten Commandments, what they are, and what their purpose was and is? With hands-on activities, printables, active games, and fun crafts? And multiple ways of processing the Ten Commandments for different types of learners and ages. The activities use shortened versions of the Ten Commandments and symbols to help kids remember them. The same symbols and wording for the shortened commandments are used across all of the activities. The wording I used for the commandments is listed below: No other God No idols  Don’t swear  Rest on Sabbath  Obey parents  Don’t murder  Honor marriage  Don’t steal  Don’t lie  Don’t be jealous This lesson includes links to songs on YouTube and links to printables to be used in the craft. There are also finger puppets for each commandment that work great if you have them memorize the commandments.  They also work great for the kids ...

30 Days of Prayer

Image
After going through my Bible study on Prayer or on Praying for others , I recommend putting these thoughts into practice by spending 30 days praying for others. Modeled after the concepts in the verses in the bible study on praying for others, each day you pray for yourself or someone for help in a specific area.  Print out the following chart to spend each day praying for a specific person and for a particular biblical purpose.

A Bible Study on Prayer

Image
Why aren't my prayers being answered? What is the proper way to pray? What is the purpose of prayer? How should we pray? What should I pray for? Do you have questions about prayer? See what the Bible has to say about prayer. Print out the Prayer Bible Study . Then, read through the Bible verses that are listed and take notes on the different topics. Make connections between the verses and see what points about prayer are repeated throughout Scripture. After completing this Bible study, you can look deeper into praying for others with this Bible study or take time to practice what you learned with my 30 Days of Prayer printable .

Easter Bible Scavenger Egg Hunt 2

Image
My kids love finding their Easter baskets using a scavenger hunt. Last year, we used Bible verses that tell the story of Jesus' death on the cross . This time I used verses about Jesus' resurrection. I also included two versions. One version has the keyword in bold. In the other version, the keyword is missing so they have to look up the Bible verses. It's pretty simple to use.  Print out the pdf .  Cut out the clues. Place the first clue in an egg to hand to your kids. Or you can place it on the bottom step for when your kids come downstairs. Put the second clue in an egg and hide it at the location in the first clue (keys). Put the third clue in an egg and hide it at the location on the bottom right of the clue (lamps). Continue putting each clue in an egg and hiding each egg at the location on the bottom right of the clue.  Hide your kids' Easter baskets (or some other prize) at the last clue (books). Enjoy!

Character Bible Study Printable

Image
This is the fifth in a series of printable Bible study resources. We have already taken a look at  making observations  about a Bible verse,  studying a word  using Strong's Concordance, a  Bible Verse Map , and a topical Bible study .  Today we will look at studying a person in the Bible. To begin, print out the Character Bible study template . You may also wish to print out the instructions and a list of people to study if you need some help. First, you have to choose which person in the Bible to study. If you need a suggestion, use the  list of men and women from the Old and New Testaments . If you choose a person who is mentioned a lot in the Bible, you can choose to narrow your study to just one aspect of their life or just one book (or passage) of the Bible. For example, you can look at Jesus in the book of John, at Peter in the book of Acts, or at Moses before Mount Sinai. After choosing a person, research any information about the person: wher...

Topical Bible Study Printable

Image
We have already taken a look at  making observations  about a Bible verse,  studying a word  using Strong's Concordance, and  mapping a Bible verse . Now let's look at how to study a topic in the Bible. Print out this Topical Bible Study template . You can also print out the instructions or you can just follow the directions here.  The first thing to do in a topical Bible study is to choose a topic. One of my favorite ways to find a topic to study is from your thoughts during another Bible study or sermon. I keep a list of topics I want to study that I add to during private Bible studies and church meetings. Some of the topics on my current list are the following topics: Jesus as the Light, voices from heaven, boldness, and things we should lay aside. Next, make a list of words that are related to your topic. These are words you can look up in a concordance that may help you find Bible passages on your topic. Be sure to write down all forms of a word,...

Bible Verse Map Printable

Image
We have already taken a look at making observations about a Bible verse and studying a word using Strong's Concordance, now in our third installment of this series we will take a look at making a Bible Verse Map . Verse mapping is one method of studying and researching a single Bible verse. There are many different ways to verse map, with no one correct method. My method includes observations, word studies, cross-references, context, background research, and application. To begin, print out the Bible Verse Map printable . You can follow along with the directions on this web page or print out the instructions . Start by writing the Bible verse reference and date at the top and copy the Bible verse in the empty box. Then, write down observations around the box using colored pencils or markers to make it more colorful and easier to follow. For example, circle any pronouns and jot down to whom they refer. Box any phrases that remind you of other related verses and write down the refe...

Bible Word Study Printable

Image
This is the second in a series of printable Bible Study resources. We have already covered how to make observations on Bible verses . Now, we will look at how to study one specific word. The twist is that we will look at the word in the original Hebrew or Greek. You do not need to know Hebrew or Greek to do this. You just need some resources. Thankfully, these resources are all available online if you don't have them already in your home. Choosing a Word To begin, choose the word in your verse you want to study. This can be a result of the observations that were made on the Bible verse or it could be a word you were curious about. What words shouldn't you pick? Pronouns, articles, and most prepositions (don't use you, he, the, a, of, in...). First of all, these words are used far too many times to study each occurrence. Second, you probably won't learn much from studying these words, because their meaning is already firmly established. Third, you will probably not find...

Bible Verse Observations Printable

Image
Have you wanted to learn how to study God's Word, but didn't know how to get started? I'm writing a series with some printable Bible Study resources to help you. First, here is a printable for making observations about a Bible verse. Begin by writing in the full verse and then follow the hints to write observations below. Try to look at things from different angles. Then right some of the highlights that you noticed at the bottom. Often it is the unexpected observations that make the biggest differences. Here are the hints that are listed on the printable to help you get started: 1. Think of each word in a different context to understand its meaning.  2. Think why each word was used instead of another similar word (ex. using "the" instead of "a")  3. Don’t miss the little words that are often skimmed over (of, the, in, on…)  4. Use a dictionary to clarify words if necessary.  5. Watch for connecting words (and, then, therefore, but…) and what is being ...
