Ten Commandments Children's Bible Lesson

  Do you need a fun way to teach children the story of God giving Moses the Ten Commandments, what they are, and what their purpose was and is? With hands-on activities, printables, active games, and fun crafts? And multiple ways of processing the Ten Commandments for different types of learners and ages. The activities use shortened versions of the Ten Commandments and symbols to help kids remember them. The same symbols and wording for the shortened commandments are used across all of the activities. The wording I used for the commandments is listed below: No other God No idols  Don’t swear  Rest on Sabbath  Obey parents  Don’t murder  Honor marriage  Don’t steal  Don’t lie  Don’t be jealous This lesson includes links to songs on YouTube and links to printables to be used in the craft. Old Testament Overview

If you are reading through the books of the Bible, it is helpful to understand the theme of each book. I have an old printable with the themes from each book of the Old Testament , but I've updated them by making a Quizlet out of them. There are quizzes for each division of the Old Testament to help you learn them in chunks. You can access them on Quizlet here . On Quizlet you can practice matching keywords in different, fun ways. If you are still learning the order of the books of the Bible, check out these fun suggestions to help you.   After you have learned the keywords you can practice applying them by matching Bible verses with the book of the Bible they are from . Hopefully, you have a plan to read the Bible as we start this upcoming year. I have used many different reading plans. The Bible in a year (both Genesis to Revelation and chronologically), with a little of Psalms and Proverbs each day (or not), a "harmony" of the Gospels, just one book, and topical plans. I have several other shorter reading plans you could use as well.  This year, we decided to encourage my 12-year-old son to read through the Bible and that my husband and I would read with him. We thought that it would be too much pressure to read it through in one year, so we settled on reading one chapter a day.  I made this Bible Reading Chart so we could keep track of what chapters we have read. All you have to do is put an x over the number of each chapter as you read it. That way you can read at your own pace. You don't even have to do them in order. So, print this out here  and start your 2021 with a resolution to read God's Word.

Bible Verses for What A Beautiful Name

While I initially resisted this song due to its repetitive chorus (basically epitomizing the 7-11 stereotype of modern Christian worship), it won me over.  First of all, the verses are powerful, filled with references to God's Word.  Second, the choruses are true.  The name of our Lord is beautiful, wonderful, and powerful.  Finally, the psalms are filled with songs that are very repetitive.  (I wonder what critics of modern worship think of Psalm 136 and all those "For His love endures forevers?")
