Christmas Decoration Scavenger Hunt

Our family has many Christmas traditions: going to a Christmas Eve service, reading the Christmas story in the Bible on Christmas morning before opening our presents, and making Christmas cookies. However, my children have a favorite tradition. They love seeing Christmas lights. A nearby church has a light show where you turn on your radio and watch the lights coordinated to the music. It's very well done and we have a great time, especially since they have hot chocolate and cookies as well. We added our own Christmas decoration scavenger hunt to look for things on the way to and from the light show and now we have our favorite Christmas tradition. Christmas Minute-To-Win-It Game Night

My Grandmother is one of ten kids and, of course, her family always wants to get everyone together for Christmas. For many years we got together on Christmas day. We met in family homes, but when they were outgrown we rented granges and church buildings. With kids, grandkids, and now even great-grandkids, we would sometimes have as many as 60 people together on Christmas day. Last year, we had our first Christmas party that was not on Christmas day. As each generation got married, more families were involved and it made it difficult for people to be available on Christmas day.  Since it was our first year where we got together the Saturday after Christmas, I decided to make some Christmas Minute-to-Win-it games for the younger people to play. Bible Reading Chart

Hopefully, you have a plan to read the Bible as we start this upcoming year. I have used many different reading plans. The Bible in a year (both Genesis to Revelation and chronologically), with a little of Psalms and Proverbs each day (or not), a "harmony" of the Gospels, just one book, and topical plans. I have several other shorter reading plans you could use as well.  This year, we decided to encourage my 12-year-old son to read through the Bible and that my husband and I would read with him. We thought that it would be too much pressure to read it through in one year, so we settled on reading one chapter a day.  I made this Bible Reading Chart so we could keep track of what chapters we have read. All you have to do is put an x over the number of each chapter as you read it. That way you can read at your own pace. You don't even have to do them in order. So, print this out here  and start your 2021 with a resolution to read God's Word.

Bible Verses for What A Beautiful Name

While I initially resisted this song due to its repetitive chorus (basically epitomizing the 7-11 stereotype of modern Christian worship), it won me over.  First of all, the verses are powerful, filled with references to God's Word.  Second, the choruses are true.  The name of our Lord is beautiful, wonderful, and powerful.  Finally, the psalms are filled with songs that are very repetitive.  (I wonder what critics of modern worship think of Psalm 136 and all those "For His love endures forevers?")
