There is no justification given for worshiping His Name, can you shoe how this is not some form of idolatry or new heresy?
ReplyDeleteI think I understand what you are trying to say, but there are many instances in the Bible that mention God's name along with commands similar to worship:
ReplyDeleteMatthew 6:9 “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.'"
Philippians 2:10-11 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
1 Chronicles 16:10 Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
Psalm 30:4 Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name.
Psalm 34:3 O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
Psalm 68:4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the Lord, and exult before Him.
Psalm 72:19 And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen.
Psalm 96:2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.
Psalm 148:13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above earth and heaven.
Hebrew 13:15 Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
We are even told to believe in Jesus' name:
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
1 John 3:23 This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
God takes seriously the misuse of His name:
Exodus 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain."
Leviticus 19:12 You shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the Lord.
It surely seems that God and His name are often equated in these verses.
I hope that helps.
The last verse should be psalm 30 :11-12. Want to msg you in private but i cant find any option to msg you.
