Bible Study on Confession and Repentance
If you had to define confession and repentance, what would you say? Is confession merely admitting you are wrong? Do you have to say you are sorry? Is repentance just a change of mind (which is what the Greek word is: μετανοέω metanoeō or literally thinking differently)? Do you have to have a change of action as well? Or is it more emotional?
We've probably all been on both ends of confession and repentance. It helps me to consider it from the receiving side to help me do it better. When someone confesses their wrong to me and repents, would just a simple sorry and then moving on seem appropriate? What more would I desire from the confessor?
It is even more important to examine what God has to say about confession and repentance in His Word, the Bible.
What helps to lead us to confess and repent our sins? To whom should we confess and repent them? What results from our confession and repentance? What are some examples in the Bible of good (or not so good) confession and repentance?
